Peter Rumscheidt

Practice Areas:  Civil litigation, Estate litigation, Plaintiff-sided Personal Injury, Family Law.

Peter graduated from Dalhousie University with a BA with honours in 1987, and from Dalhousie Law School in 1990. He was admitted to the Nova Scotia bar in 1991.

Peter joined Weldon McInnis in June, 2015. Prior to that, he practised with Goldberg Thompson from 1991 until 2010, and with Cox & Palmer from 2010 until 2015.

Peter carries on a general Civil Litigation practice, with a particular focus on Personal Injury, Estate Litigation, and Family Law. Peter has appeared at all levels of court in Nova Scotia.

Peter is the Past President of the Design and Construction Institute of Nova Scotia and the Past Chair of the Canadian Bar Association, Nova Scotia, Construction Law Section. Peter is the current Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Nova Scotia Elder Law section. Peter became a member of the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners in March 2015 and has been a long-time
member of the Halifax Estate Planning Council. He is on the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia.

Peter and his wife, Tracy Cipryk live in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia. They have three daughters. Peter is a life-long soccer player and fan and continues to play with the Old Scotia senior mens team, in Halifax.
